Suppose a current enters the body at one point and exits at another. Using the model of resistance of the body, which of the following current paths has the highest resistance? Assume that skin resistance is zero.

Right hand to left hand
Right hand to right foot
Right hand to left foot
Right foot to left foot

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Current has the largest path from right hand to left hand. We know resistance depends on length as directly. That is resistance increases with increase in length of conductor. Also resistance is inversely proportional to area of cross section of conductor. As muscles of foot are more thicker than that of hand so area of cross section of hand will be lesser than foot. So hand will have more resistance than foot.

So right hand to left hand largest path and largest resistance to flow of current.
