What is speed of light in vacuum and how does change in materials?
Speed of light in vaccum = 3 × 10 ^8 m/s or 3 × 10^5 km/sec.
This is commonly represented by "c".
Now , if the light is travelling in some medium other than vaccum then the speed of light depends upon the refractive index of that medium.
Speed of light in a medium whose refractive index is n , is given by
V = c/n where c is the speed of light in vaccum and n is the refractive index of the medium . For example, the refractive index of water is 1.33 .
