Choose an energy efficient mode of transportation that meets your needs and comment on its energy consumption. What is its approximate energy efficiency in kWh per 100 person-km

Homework Answers

Answer #1

If we choose electric high speed trains as our energy efficient mode of transportation, and making an assumption that all of its coaches are full and trains manage to achieve outstanding efficiency without travelling slowly, and without having a low weight per person. Trains make up for their high speed and have small frontal area per person then the average energy efficiency 3 kWh per 100 person-km which is far far lesser than an individual car.
