You lift a 5-kg grocery bag from the floor by 1 m with an acceleration of 1.5 m/s2. How much work have you done on the bag? I know the answer is 56.6 J. I want to know the steps! please!!

Answer #1

mass = m = 5 kg

acceleration = a = 1.5 m/sec^2

displacement = h = 1m

gravitational force acting on the bag = Fg = m ( g + a)

                                                               Fg = 5 ( 9.8 + 1.5 ) = 56.5 N

work = w = Fg * s = m ( g + a) * s = 56.5 * 1 = 56.5 joules
