A point moves along a straight line. It is uniformly accelerated from rest to 48 fps to the right in 2 sec. The acceleration is then changed to a different constant value such that the displacement for the entire period is 48 ft to the right and the total distance travelled is 192 ft. Determine (a) the total time interval (b) the final velocity.

A car travels along a straight road. It starts from rest and accelerated in two stages. Each stage takes the same amount of time. In the first stage, the car speeds up with acceleration 3.0 m/s^2. At the end of the second stage, the cars velocity magnitude is 2.5 times greater than it is at the end of the first stage. Find the acceleration magnitude in the second stage.
