Summarize the ways that an oscilloscope can be used in the
laboratory as a measuring
device, and discuss its ability to measure AC and DC signals when
compared to a digital
multimeter.
Usage of Oscilloscope in laboratory:
1. To measure the signals
2. To observe the the signals (signal can be viewed)
3. To measure the different values of AC and DC signals
4. Two signals can be viewed at a time.
Ability to measure AC and DC signals:
In ac signals, oscilloscpe can be used to measure the different parameters like Amplitude, peak to peak value, frequency and time period etc., by viewing the signal in the display provided in the oscilloscope. But whereas in Digital multimeter, only the value of ac signal is shown.
DC signals can also be viewed in oscilloscope . In fact , both AC and DC signals can be viewed at at time. But in Digitgal multimeter can not be seen at a time.
Triggereing can be done in oscilloscope, where as not in multimeter.
