A generator connected to an RLC circuit has an rms voltage of 120 V and an rms current of 39 mA . Part A If the resistance in the circuit is 3.2 k? and the capacitive reactance is 6.5 k? , what is the inductive reactance of the circuit? Express your answers using two significant figures. Enter your answers numerically separated by a comma.
In RLC Circuit
Impedance is given by
Z = Vrms/Irms = sqrt (R^2 + (XL - Xc)^2)
Given that
Vrms = 120 V, & Irms = 39*10^-3 Amp
Z = 120/(39*10^-3)
Z = 3076.92 ohm
Now
R = 3.2 k-ohm = 3200 ohm
Since in the given scenario
R > Z, So this RLC circuit is not possible.
Please recheck the value of Vrms and Irms in question one more time and let me know if they are difference. Because when R > Z, then
Z^2 = R^2 + (XL - Xc)^2
(XL - Xc)^2 = Z^2 - R^2
Since R > Z, So Z^2 - R^2 = -ve
(XL - Xc)^2 = -ve, which is not possible.
