Question

If you increase frequency, what is the effect on amplitude?

If you increase frequency, what is the effect on amplitude?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

If we increase the frequency of wave there is no change in amplitude of wave.

Frequency of wave depend upon wavelength of wave and speed of wave

f=frequency of wave

= speed of wave

=wavelength of wave

When We increase the frequency ,wavelength is decrease at constant speed.

Amplitude of wave is maximum amount of displacement of particle.

Let take a sinusoidal wave

Y= A sin( t+kx)

When frequency of wave is wave is compressed and no change in amplitude of the wave

in sketch We see that the amplitude is same in both case .

So ,there is no change in amplitude when frequency is increase.
