Calculate the critical angle of the prism

ni*sin(theta i) = nr*sin(theta r)

ni=1.65, nr=1, sin(theta r)=1

I know how to plug things into the equation, but I don't know how to solve for the angle on a TI84 calculator.

I know of two ways to compute the angle between two vectors 1.) cos theta = (u· v)/(||u||· ||v||) 2.) sin theta = ||u x v||/(||u||· ||v||) The problem I need help with requires that I show that the two methods produce the same theta value. The vectors I have to work with are u = <-2,2,-2> and v = <4,6,3>. Theoretically, the two theta values should be the same. However, when I did it both ways, the first method...

Solve using periodic properties: Sin-1(sin(5π/8)) cos (16π/3) Assuming you don't have a calculator to check your work, I don't understand how to find the corresponding angle on the periodic circle. I really need a detailed explanation. I understand the math so I don't need someone showing me how to subtract 5π-2π =3π, but more so how you would know how to subtract 5-2 as opposed to 5π-4π to get π/8? I've seen people solve many questions like these different ways,...
