Ever hear the phrase: Stop the World I wanna get off!. Interesting physics question. So if a rocket were placed at the equator firing in the opposite direction of the Earth's rotation (this would generate a negative torque), what thrust would the rocket have to generate to "stop" the rotation of the Earth. Assume the rockets trust is on for a complete year (365 days).
