Automobiles and trucks are often designed with a tapered ("aerodynamic") rather than a blunt front surface. Why is this? What does the tapered front accomplish? How important is it?
It is made tapered or aerodynamic shape because it will able to
reduce the drag force
applied by the air.
When we make blunt surface drag force increases which lead to
decrease the efficiency of the vehicle
whereas an aerodynamic shape helps in increasing the efficiency of
vehicle.
It is too much important to made aerodynamic shape because in
aerodynamic shape the wake angle is very less
which avoid drag and lift of the vehicle.
If we do not follow proper aerodynamic shape then due to large wake
or lift vehicle can also leave the contact from
the ground.
