How is electric and magnetic fields related to the current in the wire. Why is the electric field in phase with the magnetic field?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

if a current is passed through a wire, a magnetic field is produced around the wire. The voltage (or pressure) applied to drive the current through the wire produces an electric field around the wire. As with a magnetic field around a magnet, the electric and magnetic fields associated with a current-carrying wire will reduce rapidly as the distance from the wire increases.

A proton enters a region in which there are both electric and magnetic fields. The fields are both uniform and their directions are mutually perpendicular. The velocity of the proton does not change as it moves through this region. Which of the following is a possible explanation for this observation? How can you show that electric currents create magnetic fields? Check all that apply. If you place two wires with currents perpendicular to each other, they will be attracted each other. If you place a magnet near a closed circuit with current flowing, it will exert a force on the circuit wires. If you place a coil of wire near a magnet and direct a current through the coil, it will exert a force on the magnet, depending on its...
