Question

Find the mass of a cube of iron 10.cm on a side.

Find the mass of a cube of iron 10.cm on a side.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We know that the density of iron is 7.86 g/cm^3. Also we know that the relation between mass and density can be given by knowing volume.

So volume of the cube of side 'a' = 10 cm can be given by

V = a^3 = (10 cm)^3 = 1000 cm^3

Now the relation between mass, volume and density can be given by

Density = Mass/volume

This implies that Mass = density x volume

So mass of the iron cube with density 7.86 g/cm^3 and volume 1000 cm^3 will be

Mass = 7.86 x 1000 = 7860 = 7.86 Kg

Which is the required answer.
