Kinesiology 364:
Why is a person able to throw a tennis ball further than they can throw a similarly sized cannonball, given that there is no mass or weight in any of the projectile motion formulae??
Thank you!
a person can apply only a fixed amount of power to any
object
lets say this power is his maximum possible applicable power
then total amount of energy applied to the object is E
E = 0.5mv^2
v is final speed of object, m is its mass
hence we see the infal velocity imparted to the cannon ball wii be
less than the final velocity imparted to the tennsi ball as mass of
canon ball is more than that of tennis ball
hence the tennis ball will travel more than the canon ball when
thrown by the same person with full force
