Answer #1

Let us assume three vectors a, b and c then as per vector triple product

a * (b*c) . Note that here the parenthesis is important. Here vector a is projected into the plane of vector (b*c) which will yield i + j ( xy plane). However, if we rotate the (b*c) vector to (c*b) vector, we will get i - j.

Now why do we vector triple product. The main purpose of a vector triple product is to give the signed volume of a parallelepiped. What is a parallelpiped ? .

A parallelepiped has six faces, each of three pairs of opposite faces being two congruent parallelograms.
