Question

Please explain the difference between centripetal and centrifugal force

Please explain the difference between centripetal and centrifugal force

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Both Centrifugal and Centripetal forces arise when the body is in a uniform circular motion. Centrifugal force is the radially outward force experienced by the object in the rotating frame. Centripetal force, on the other hand, is the radially inward force experienced by the object.

Centrifugal force acts away from the center whereas centripetal force acts towards the center.

Centrifugal force is what the observer in the rotating frame measures whereas an observer outside this frame will measure the centripetal force.
