Why is A Low Earth Orbit satellite unsuitable for high-resolution imaging?

viii) What is a nano satellite?

ix) State one advantage and one disadvantage of nanosatellites for Low Earth Orbit operations?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1) The low earth orbit satellite (LEO) orbit at low altitude . They are incapable of providing high resolution images as :

  • LOW FIELD OF VIEW : - They are close to earth surface so it becomes hard for them to get a better field of view or good quality image

viii ) The nano satellites are the small satellites that weighs less than 10 kg , they are designed to have small payload .

ix) The advantage of nano satellites are that they are excellent in communication jobs. They require less energy to be placed . it provide high bandwidth for communication and along with low latency of communication.

The disadvantage of these satellites are they are incapable of providing high resolution images

Consider a satellite of mass m in a circular orbit of radius r around the Earth of mass ME and radius RE. 1. What is the gravitational force (magnitude and direction) on the satellite from Earth? 2. If we define g(r) to be the force of gravity on a mass m at a radial distance r from the center of the Earth, divided by the mass m, then evaluate the ratio g(r)/g(RE)to see how g varies with radial distance. If...
