Create an obstacle course using TORQUE and everyday objects. Explain how the "contestants" would use/ apply torque and the formulas needed to complete this obstacle.
"
tau is torque about axis of rotation ,F is force and r is distance between axis of rotation and place where force is applied.
Object : Door
The experimentor will apply force at various points on door and try to rotate door about its hinge. He finds that he needs more effort when distance between door's axis and point of application of force ( not lying on axis ) is more. He does a series of experiments to find that , the closer to refrigerator he is , less effort he has ro apply ( meaning less torque , as evident by formula).
He also fing whe he chooses a point on axis with r=0 , he isn't able to rotate the door no mattee how hard he tries , basically his torque exerted is zero here.
Here we assumed throughput that our door is homegeneous . Friction is less and axis of rotation and is same everywhere on axis of rotation.
