a grinding wheel of 50cm in diameter rotates at 6000 rpm. what is the tangential speed of a point on the edge of the grinding wheel in m/s?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Angular velocity = 6000 rpm (revolutions per min.)

Angle made in one revolution =2 rad

So = 2*6000/60 rad/sec

= 200 rad/sec

Linear velocity of a point V = *r , here r is the radius

So V = 200*3.14*0.5m = 314.16 m/sec
