A quantity of gas in a piston cylinder is at room temperature (20°C) and is heated in an isobaric(constant pressure)process. What will be the temperature of the gas in degrees Celsius when it has expanded to a volume of 0.600m3?
From Charles' law
At constant pressure, volume of gas is directly proportional to absolute temperature of gas.
Here initial temperature, = 20°C or 293 Kelvin
initial volume of gas, V1 = 0.100 m^3
Final volume of gas, V2 = 0.600 m^3
Let final temperature be T2
So V T
So V1/ V2 = T1 / T2
So T2 = (293)(0.600)/ (0.100)
So T2 = 1758 Kelvin
Therefore final temperature will be 1758 kelvin or 1485°C
