A car has a maximum acceleration of 6.0 m/s2 . What will the maximum acceleration be if the car is towing another car of the same mass? Neglect the additional friction force.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Let m be the mass of the car

Force max , F max = m *a

                 F max = m*6

                 F max = 6m

Now new acceleration, a ' = F max / (m + m)

                                    a ' = 6m/ (2m)

                                    a ' = 3 m/s2
