The difference in the level of excitation between elbow flexion and elbow extension in the sagittal plane about a transverse axis

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In bisecp curls which produces flexion at elbow ,the biseps muscle is the angonist . In biscep curl ,bicep is the angonist on the way up when it contracts concentrically and on the way down when it contracts ecentrically

During elbow flexation where bicep is angonist the tricep muscle is the antagoinst. While the agonist contravts causing movment to occur .the antagonist typically relaxes as not to impede the agonist. If the load is heavy when the load is lowered from top position the antagonist tricep muscle would produce sufficent amount of tension to control the movements as weight lowers this helps to ensure that gravity doesnot accelerate the movement causing damage tonelbow jpintb. The tricep becomes the agonist and the bicep the the antagonist when the elbow extends against gravity .

your friend is standing at anatomical neutral. She exhibits 40° of flexion in the sagittal plane at the shoulder and 50° of flexion at the elbow. Assuming that her shoulder is at the origin, what is the position of her wrist along the axis, and the angle ? Assume the upper arm is 13” and the lower arm is 10” long. (Hint, remember which direction the angle should be measured from)
