A domino chain reaction is the cumulative effect produced when one event sets off a chain of similar events. This term is best known as a mechanical effect and is used as an analogy to a falling row of dominoes.

As the first element is knocked it falss on the same next element and this goes on. The first element transfers it's momentum to the next element and so on. We know that the momentum is always conserved, whether it is elastic collision or an inelastic collision. Hence, this sequence goes on until the last element of the chain is knocked out.

We arw not considering conservation of energy principle because friction force takes place and some energy is lost during each collision.
