A compound gear set of gears A, B, C, D. Gear A is input with a speed of 1200 rpm clockwise. Calculate the output speed and its direction.
Gear A= 50 teeth
Gear B= 150 teeth
Gear C= 30 teeth
Gear D= 60 teeth
here,
Speed of Gear A, wa = 1200 rpm
from basic gear theroy:
w1 * t1 = w2 *t2
Where,
w1, w2 are speed of gears
t1,t2 are teeths on gears
For Gear A and Gear B :
wa* ta = wb * tb
speed of gear b, wb = wa*ta/tb
speed of gear b, wb = 1200*50/150
speed of gear b, wb = 400 rpm (anticlockwise)
For Gear B and Gear C :
wb* tb = wc * tc
speed of gear c, wc = wb*tb/tc
speed of gear c, wc = 400*150/30
speed of gear c, wc = 2000 rpm (clockwise)
For Gear c and Gear d:
wc* tc = wd * td
speed of gear d, wd = wc*tc/td
speed of gear d, wd = 2000*30/60
speed of gear d, wd = 1000 rpm (anticlockwise)
