1. When an iron bar is placed in a magnetic field, the magnetic field around the bar

a. strongly decreases

b. slightly decreases

c stays the same

d. slightly increases

e strongly increases

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer : (e) strongly increases.

Because, iron bar is a ferromagnetic material.

And, Ferromagnetic materials are those materials which exhibit a spontaneous net magnetization at the atomic level, even in the absence of an external magnetic field. When placed in an external magnetic field, ferromagnetic materials are strongly magnetized in the direction of the field.

Therefore, Here iron nail will also produce its own magnetic field and hence the magnetic field around the bar will strongly increases.
