Hi, I'm having trouble with a lab question. The lab is about Bound Quantum States in Potential Wells

The lab is using this simulation: https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/legacy/bound-states

Using the square well and adjusting the potential depth (I think this means altering the height, width, right?), the question I am having trouble answering is this:

Does the wavefunction or the probability density ever “leave” the confines of the potential well? How? What do you think this effect might represent physically?

Thank you for your help!

According to quantum mechanics represents wave function, it is complex number, hence represents probability of finding particle (According to Max. Born) which represents probability of finding particle. The partilce will confine with in wall when well has infinite height walls. In all remaining cases particle can penetrate the barrier and appear outside the barrier which depends on width of the barrier. Transmission probability is where a is barrier with. Transmission coeffient T= . The value k2 depends on potential depth.

since it is finite we can find particle out side the well.
