An observer on Earth sees a Klingon spaceship going at a speed of v in the x-direction. A Venusian spaceship is approaching the Klingon ship and going at the same speed in the opposite direction. According to the captain of the Venusian ship, how fast is the Klingon ship approaching?

let , speed of klingon spaceship Vk = v (given)

so, the speed of veniusian spaceship Vn  = ( - v ) { -ve sign shows it is moving opposite to klingon spacship }

therefore ,

speed of klingon ship as seen by venusian captian = Vn - Vk

  = (-v) - v

= (-2v)

   { -ve sign shows it is moving opposite to the venusian ship }

hence ,  klingon ship is moving with a speed of  2V towards veniusian ship ,as seen by venusian captian.
