Position where the stick is found to balance = X = 48.7 cm

Position of the coins = X1 = 38.7 cm

Position of the center of mass of the meter stick = X2 = 50 cm

Distance of the coins from the balance point = d1 = X - X1 = 48.7 - 38.7 = 10 cm

Distance of the center of mass of the meter stick from the balance point = d2 = X2 - X = 50 - 48.7 = 1.3 cm

Taking moment about the balance point,

M = 60.6 g

Mass of the meter stick = 60.6 g
