For competitive road cycling, mechanical power is based on the overall rolling resistance, gravity (forces due to gravity have a greater or lesser impact on power based on riding on flat surfaces or ascending/descending hills), drag forces, and the inertia of the bicycle and bicycle components. Based on this understanding, describe how changes in the cyclist, position, or bicycle may increase or decrease performance in a cycling race. Be sure to incorporate biomechanical concepts in your response.

Dear student

Cycling as we know is a complete sport in which all muscles works together to allow the athletic movement. Lower body generates power whereas upper body generates stability and control. Here the muscle functions as it is composed of fibres that produces contraction.

It produces movement and maintains posture. It works in groups. Postural control is influenced by proprioception, the receptors of and tendons.

Pedalling movement is related to kinetic chain by which it improves joint stability. It provides stability to contact points and joints.
