The Sun has about the same abundance of iron in it as Cas A. What does this imply about
the circumstances of the Sun’s formation?

Answer #1

Cas A (Cassiopeia A)  is a supernova remnant in the constellation Cassiopeia. The information that Sun has about the same abundance  of iron in it as Cas A shows that our Sun is also formed by supernova remnant. Age of our Sun is 4.6 billion years while the age of our galaxy is about 8 billion years which shows that one of big star died and during supernova remnant of it condense to form our Sun and solar system.

I will be glad to see your comment if you have any query and thumb up if you are satisfied. Thanks....

The Sun outputs about 3.846 x 1026 Watts. A) How much mass is being converted into energy every second in the Sun’s core? About 0.7% of this mass becomes energy through the fusion of hydrogen to helium: 4H à He +γ . B) What mass of hydrogen is being converted into helium every second? In a little over 5 billion years, our Sun will collapse to a white dwarf approximately 16,000 km in diameter. (Ignore the fact that the Sun will lose mass as it ages.) (a) What will our Sun’s angular momentum and rotation rate be as a white dwarf? (Express your answers as multiples of its present-day values.) (b) Compared to its present value, will the Sun’s rotational kinetic energy increase, decrease, or stay the same when it becomes a white dwarf?...

The sun and moon appear in the sky to be about the same size. (You can see this most impressively during a total eclipse of the sun.) The moon is a distance 3.8 × 108 m from earth, and the sun is a distance 1.5 × 1011 m from earth. The radius of the moon is 1.7 × 106 m. (a) Given the above information, how large is the sun? (b) Why do they appear—to the eye—to be the same...

Q: How far does the Sun falls towards the center of our Milky Way galaxy every year as it orbits the Galactic Center. Some details about the Sun’s orbit are:             radius = 8.0 kpc = 2.469 x 10^17 km             speed = 220 km/sec Thanks for the help! :)

Iron has the lowest mass per nuclear particle of any element. What does this mean for a star when it's core has filled with iron? When observing galaxies you notice the following: There tend to be more spiral galaxies for a given number of elliptical galaxies the farther away the galaxies are. The closer elliptical galaxies tend to be larger and more massive than the far ones. What does this suggest to us about how galaxies form? 3.Explain what we...
