In the dry (coulomb) friction model, what are the three phases of friction for two solid surfaces in contact?
According to the coulombs friction model there are three phases of friction
1) Static friction - this come into play when two body are not moving related to each other , oor both surfaces are rolling over each other without sliping . this is calculated by its value is not fixed it depend on the externals forces acting on the body
2) Kinetic Friction - This come into play when two body are in motion with respect to others . like one block is sliding over other. it is not dependent on externals forces, It is denoted by
3) third case is when body is rolling as well as slipping over other surface in this case both static and kinetc friction are in play
