A 5 kg object is to be lifted height of 3m. If a ramp of incline 21o is used and 24N of Force is required to get the object up the ramp, what is the efficiency of the ramp?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Here we have given that,

Mass 5 kg

Height = 3m.

ramp of incline 21o

F = 24Nt

For the efficiency of the ramp we have formula as,

E = total potential energy at heights point of ramp / work done by force to push the block.

Here total potential energy at the top will be

U = mgh = 5 × 9.8 × 3 = 147 J

Now for the work done by the force we have,

W = F × hypotenuse of the ramo

Hypotenuse of the ramp will be given as

Sin21° = 3/h

h = 3/Sin21° = 8.3713 m

Hence the work done will be,

W = 24 × 8.3713   = 200.9108 J

So that the efficiency of the ramp will be

e = 147/200.9108 × 100 = 73.166 %

Hence the efficiency of the ramp is 73.16678 %
