Elastic hysteresis is the difference between the stress-energy and stress. It experiences stress and strain when stretching a rubber band but the strain is not synonymous with stress, so when you map the force vs. deformation a loop is formed which is known as elastic hysteresis. Under stress, the energy consumed or released by a substance has been shown to be the region of the force-extension map between the curve and the extension axis.
