The rocket is launched at 36° with the ground (stage A), from rest towards the East. The rocket engine provides a constant net acceleration of 4.1 ms-2 and burns for 8.6 s (stage B). During this stage (i.e. AB) the rocket travels in a straight-line. At the end of stage B the engine shuts off and rocket starts moving as a typical projectile. After reaching its maximum height (stage C), it drops for 82 m and then a parachute opens (stage D). The parachute forces the rocket to descend at a constant (vertical) speed of 11 ms-1 but during its descent wind blows towards the West with horizontal speed 18 ms-1 until it lands on the ground (stage E). Find:

a) for how long the rocket was ascending without its engine (in seconds)

b) the maximum height of the rocket (in meters)

c) What was the horizontal displacement of the rocket from the time the parachute opened until it landed (in meters)?

The graph gives the vertical velocity of the rocket versus time after it is launched at t = 0.0 s. The rocket starts climbing with a constant speed of 23 m/s. At t = 2.0 s the rocket engine shuts off and the rocket is then in free-fall motion and falls back to the ground. What maximum height above the ground does the rocket reach?

A model rocket blasts off and moves upward with an acceleration of 12 m/s2 until it reaches a height of 29 m, at which point its engine shuts off and it continues its flight in free fall. Use g = 9.81 m/s2. a. What is the maximum height attained by the rockets? b. What is the speed of the rocket just before it hits the ground? c. What is the total duration of the rocket's flight?

A rocket, initially at rest on the ground, accelerates straight upward from rest with constant acceleration 34.3 m/s2 . The acceleration period lasts for time 8.00 s until the fuel is exhausted. After that, the rocket is in free fall. Find the maximum height ymax reached by the rocket. Ignore air resistance and assume a constant acceleration due to gravity equal to 9.80 m/s2 .

A kids rocket is fired from rest from the ground (y=0) at time t1=0s. As the rocket fuel is burning its fuel it moves vertically upward with constant acceleation of +4.25m/s2. At t2=12s all fuel is used up and rocket is in freefall and air resistance can be neglected in this case. what is the maximum height of rocket with respect to ground? Also how long after being launched does the rocket return to the ground? And what is the...

A jet accelerates at a=3.92 m/s^2 from rest until it reaches its takeoff velocity of 360 km/hr. It has to travel for 5 seconds at its takeoff velocity before taking off. What's the minimum distance that the jet will travel on the runway? A car backs up at a constant speed for a short time, then applies the brakes and steadily comes to rest.
