Question

explain resistance

explain resistance

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Resistance is a property of material which opposes the flow of current through it. It is symbolised by R and its unit is ohm.

It is of two types:

(1) Fixed resistance:- Resistance remains the same/fixed.

(2) Variable resistance:- Resistance don't remains the same or can be changed/varied by using rheostat.

Conductor have low resistance while insulators have high resistance that's why current doesn't flow through the insulators.

And according to ohm's law the resistance of a material is equal to the ratio of voltage applied to the electric current flowing through it.
