An object of mass m=.2kg that is vibrating on a horizontal friction less surface. The spring constant is k=545N/m. The spring is stretched initially to x0=4.5cm and is released from rest. Find vf of object when final displacement of the spring is
Xf=2.25cm
Xf=0

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Here, gain in kinetic energy = energy stored in spring

=>   1/2 * 0.2 * (v2) = 1/2 * 545 * (0.0452 - 0.02252)

=> v = 2.034 m/s

Thus, vf of object when final displacement of the spring is Xf=2.25cm =   2.034 m/s

Here, gain in kinetic energy = energy stored in spring

=>   1/2 * 0.2 * (v2) = 1/2 * 545 * (0.0452 - 0)

=> v = 2.349 m/s

Thus, vf of object when final displacement of the spring is Xf=0 cm =   2.349 m/s
