Two stones are launched from the top of a tall building. One stone is thrown in a direction 25.0° above the horizontal with a speed of 12.0 m/s ; the other is thrown in a direction 25.0° below the horizontal with the same speed. Discuss what are the similarities (or what are the differences) in their motion including:
1- time of flight.
2- maximum height.
3- Range.
4- Velocity before hitting the ground.Discuss the motion
Time of flight will be different for both the stones as the stone thrown at 25 degree below the horizontal will reach the ground before the other stone .
Maximum height of the stone thrown at 25 degree above horizontal will be greater than the other stone .
The range will be same for both the stones because range depends upon the horizontal component of initial velocity, which is same for both stone i.e u cos 25 = 12 cos 25 = 10.87 m/s
Final velocity for both stones before hitting ground will be same , which is due to the conservation of energy
