What is the resistance of:
A 2.00 m long copper wire that is 0.400 mm in diameter?
A 10.0 cm long piece of carbon with a 0.800 mm × 0.800 mm square cross section?
Solution:
Using the concept of resistance,
R = L/A
a) Here,
= 1.72*10-8 ohm-m
L = 2m and A = *[0.2*10-3]2
R = 0.27 ohm.
b) Here,
= 3.5 *10-5
L = 10cm = 0.1m
A = [0.8*10-3]2
R = 5.5 ohm.
