If a punter hits a ball 40 meters and it is the air for 4.5 seconds, what was the angle on the initial velocity?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

let the speed of projection be v and angle of projection be

Y = Uyt - 0.5gt^2

0 = v sin *t - 0.5*9.8*t^2

4.9t = v sin

v sin = 4.9*4.5 = 22.05 ------------(1)

X = Ux*t

v cos = x/t

v cos = 40 / 4.5 = 8.89 -----------(2)

Dividing (1) by (2) we have

tan = (22.05 / 8.89)

= 68.04o
