An object outside a liquid has a weight of 59.00 N. As an object is immersed into a liquid and does not float, what will happen to the weight?

A)

The weight decreases to a value above 0

.B)

The weight stays the same.

C)

The weight increases.

D)

The weight will equal 0.

Answer #1

When an object is immersed in a liquid it experiences a force in the upward direction called buyoant force.

The magnitude of this force is equal to the weight of the liquid displaced by the body.

But it would be kept in mind that buyoancy is a different force.

It does not effect gravitational force in any way which is responsible for weight of the body.

So When body is immersed in a liquid no matter it floats or sinks , its weight would be remain the same.

So option B) weight stays the same is the correct answer.

Hope the explanation would be helpful for you.

A given liquid has a contact angle of 130° on a glass material. A tube of the same material with a radius of 3 mm, is dipped in the liquid. Will the surface of the liquid inside the tube be above or below the liquid surface outside? Mathematically quantify it. What is the physical reason of the observed behavior of the liquid? Surface tension and density of the liquid are 0.56 N m-1 and 13.9 × 103 kg m-3, respectively.
