Because, We know from Newton's law of action and reaction that the forces between two objects are equal in magnitude but apposite in diretion. The force of gravity that the moon experiences due to earth, the earth also experiences the same due to moon.

The moon stays in its orbit as the gravitational force between the two provides the necessary centripital force to keep it moving in the circular path. Its directed towards the center of path, and moon gets accelerated towards it, but due to the curvature of earth it stays in its orbit.
