B. repulsion

C.orbitals

D. magnetism

E. electric fields

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Nuclear forces keeps electrons and protons together in one atom ,

Two protons (or two electrons) will repel each other. The closer together they are, the stronger will be the repulsion.

A proton and an electron will attract each other. The closer they are together, the stronger will be the attraction.

Now the nucleus of an atom is positively charged, while electrons are negatively charged.

As a result, a nucleus will attract electrons and electrons will form cloud  around the nucleus which results an atom.

The nucleus of an atom consists of protons and neutrons (no electrons). A nucleus of a carbon‑12 isotope contains six protons and six neutrons, while a nitrogen‑14 nucleus comprises seven protons and seven neutrons. A graduate student performs a nuclear physics experiment in which she bombards nitrogen‑14 nuclei with very high speed carbon‑12 nuclei emerging from a particle accelerator. As a result of each such collision, the two nuclei disintegrate completely, and a mix of different particles are emitted, including...
