Robert throws a ball vertically upward from the edge of a 150m tall building. The ball falls to the ground 9.5 s after leaving Roberts hand. Assume that the ball leaves Roberts hand when its 2 m above the roof of the building. Find the initial velocity of the ball and the maximum height of the ball and the time the ball reaches its max height?

Answer #1

The values are replaced for the total flight , i.e initial position of ball to final position on the ground , the initial velocity is taken to be negative since displacement is in direction of acceleration.

Taking g =10m/s2

The values with g= 9.8 m/s2 are:

U= 30.55m/s

X=47.61m

t= 3.11s
