Describe Ohms Law as an equation in 1-2 sentences.

Describe the concept of internal resistance in 1-2 sentences.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The Ohm's law states that the current flowing through any object is directly proportional to the voltage applied across it.

I.e I (directly proportional) V.

On removing the proportionality, there comes a constant which is reciprocal of resistance R.

I.e. I = V/R

Hence V= IR.

Internal resistance.

This is the resistance offered by the source voltage when we try to model the voltage source in practical condition. In practical condition the volatge source does not has zero resistance. It has some finite resistance which is represented by the internal resistance.

Consider a CMOS driver with the internal output resistance of 1 k ohms and intrinsic capacitance of 2fento farad. This Driver is connected via a metal wire , width = .05 micrometer , length = 70 micrometer , rw= .022 ohms/micrometer, Cw = 73 aF/mirco meter , to another CMOS gate as a load having input capacitance of 2fento farad. Estimate the propogation delay from the output of the driver to the input of the load in the above configuration.
