How is this phenomena of magnetic induction related to electrical power generation? What is one electrical power generation method that does not use magnetic induction?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

usually, electric power is generated by converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. we use generators for this purpose. the generator contains a fixed magnet and a rotating coil. the coil is rotated by mechanical work( by water flow in the dam, by the wind in the windmill, etc ). while the magnetic flux (flux of fixed magnets) linked with this coil is changing, there is an emf will induce across coil according to faradays law. this development of emf due to change in magnetic flux is called magnetic induction.

in batteries, we produce electric power through chemical reaction.

The process of turning a turbine that is in a magnetic field is important for current energy generation techniques. One such example of this is hydroelectric power, where we are able to create electrical energy by capturing the kinetic energy of falling water. Explain the physics of those processes. Be sure to explain the fundamental equations that relate to energy generation in this way. Please provide diagrams/drawings (which aid in answering the question) and step by step work. Thanks

when the magnetic induction varies linearly with time, the induced voltage is constant in alternating directions, thus varying as a square wave in sync with the input signal. why does a linear change in voltage create an induced steady volt output at the probe?
