initial total height above the center of earth=r=1650+6370=8020 km=8.02*10^6 m

initial potential energy=-G*M*m/r

final potentail energy=-G*M*m/R

where R=radius of earth=6370 km=6.37*10^6 m

let speed when it touches the surface be v m/s.

then -G*M*m/r=(-G*M*m/R)+0.5*m*v^2

==>0.5*v^2=G*M*((1/R)-(1/r))=6.674*10^(-11)*5.98*10^24*((1/(6.37*10^6))-(1/(8.02*10^6)))=1.289*10^7

==>v=sqrt(1.289*10^7/0.5)=5077.4 m/s
