When you stand before a mirror, distance of you from mirror is equal to distance between mirror to you.

Thus, if you will move towards the mirror with a velocity of 3 miles per hour.

the mirror image will move towards to you with velocity of 3 miles per hour  only.

Thus, By using relative velocity

your speed towards mirror + mirror image speed towards you is

= 3 + 3

= 6 miles per hour.
