Analysis of the dielectric behaviour and associated properties of a glass. Could you explain briefly (little detailed and longer)

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The analysis of dielectric properties of glass is useful to know the electric field distribution within the glass Dielectric properties are correlated with the electro-optic peoperties of the glasses. It is seen that with the increase in frequency there is decrease in dielectric constant and dielectric loss gradually decreases. If temperature is decreased the dielectric constant and dielectric loss decreases. This behaviour can be explained as the electron hopping between two different sites in glass due to the applied fiels. If temperatute is increased the jump frequency will increase. It becomes large compared to the frequency of the applied electric field. At low frequency the charge carriers hop easily with low free energy and they accumulate the sites with high free energy barries which results in net polarisation. This leads to increase in dielectric loss and dielectric constant.

Hi, could you please explain step-by-step what to do? Thank you. Two glass bulbs, each with the same volume, are connected together (and open to each other) and filled with Ar(g). When the two bulbs are immersed in a water bath at 85°C, the gas pressure is 0.78 atm. One of the bulbs is then removed (but not disconnected from the other) from the water bath at 85°C and immersed in a water bath at 22°C. Now, what is the...

1. At the end of Chapter 12, Mankiw presents an analysis of six separate costs of inflation: shoe-leather costs, menu costs, relative-price variability and the mis-allocation of resources, inflation-induced tax distortions, confusion and inconvenience, and arbitrary redistributions of wealth. If inflation leads to these problems, does it follow that deflation (the opposite of inflation, falling prices) makes these costs disappear. Put more generally, if inflation is bad, does it follow that deflation is good? 2. Using the "six costs of...
