The radius of the curvature of one of the surfaces of a biconvex lens is 5 times superior to the other radius on the other side.
the lens is made of glass with a refraction index of 1.53, the power is 5D. Determine the radius of curvature on both sides.
I used the equation of the Lensmaker's Equation for a Thick Lens, but i cant match the answer give, which is R1=12,7mm and R2=-63,5mm.
Given,
( negative sign indicates they are on the opposite sides)
as we don't know the thickness, we will assume it to be zero, and treat the lens as a thin lens.
using Lensmaker's equation,
but,
So, the radii of the sides of the lens are 12.7 cm and -63.5 cm.
( The answer is off by one decimal point if it is in mm, please check the unit)
