b) Longitudinal wave - are waves in which the displacement of the medium is in the same direction as , or the opposite direction to , the direction of propagation of the wave

c) Standing waves - a vibration of a system in which some particular points remain fixed while others between them vibrate with maximum amplitude

d) shock waves is a type of propagating disturbance that moves faster than the local speed of sound in the medium .
